Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Interested, especially if I can get just 1, and have it built to my spec for a fixed/track rear.
If not, I'll consider doing a pair.

I'd love to be able to sell just one (and would be willing to do so) if the shipping didn't make the rims too expensive.
Everyone has moved to volumetric shipping. This means that the shipping charge is based on either size or weight - whatever is greater! So since the size of the box for 1 rim is the same as 2 rims this means that the shipping for 1 rim is exactly the same as for 2 (because the size formula yields a higher shipping cost than the actual weight).
Make sense?
That's why I want to sell them in pairs.

Got it.
Looking forward to updates regarding building options, then. The wait's just a bit long :(

I'm estimating the time on the long side to allow for glitches etc.
It could actually be a bit faster than what I've laid out but I'd rather put out a conservative estimate and deliver sooner than tell people it will be a week and have it take much longer.
If I were to order 4 rims, could I save on shipping?
Thanks,
H

Yes, but it would take me a bit to work out exactly how much.
Contact me by the sales email in my sig if you are interested and I will put the quote together for you.

Thanks to the input from the PM and emails I received.
Those who contacted me were put off by the long delay in getting product. So I have decided to place an order now (on Monday) and offer these rims in a limited amount.
This will speed up the process considerably.
Delivery for all orders should be 6~7 weeks from right now.

We are also hoping to be able to offer custom wheel building for those not inclined to it it themselves through a US based wheel builder with a solid reputation.

Shame you didn't get that guy. Psimet will have to do.

nice. Psimet, are those deal prices per wheel, or for a pair? I'm assuming per wheel, but thought I'd check just in case.

From my talks with him, that's the price for hub, spoke, labor for front and rear. Add shipping (to him as well as you) and the cost of the rims.
I could be wrong, as I've been talking to him about completely different setups.

Based on the feedback I am getting there seems to be little interest for this deal on BF.
I would much rather focus my resources on something that has a chance of coming together so I have put my rim order on hold for now.
I am setting a deadline of 21 July to have, at least, 15 people interested in a set of rims. If this happens I will remit final payment to KinLin and the order will proceed. If this does not happen The GB will be closed.

Considering the prices for these rims in the US with no long delay from reputable and legitimate stores like Fair Wheel Bikes, this does not make any sense and goes against the rules for group buys in my opinion.

Interesting post for your first post on this forum.
In case you were wondering my company is also a legitimate and reputable Trading Company that is licensed and located in Taiwan. Personally, I have more than 25 years in the bicycle industry and some pretty decent credentials.
As to the pricing of these rims they would come in about $20.00 cheaper or more once you add it ALL up (that includes shipping from the domestic sources).
For example since you mentioned Fair Wheel Bikes by name:
2 rims from Fair Wheel Bikes = $120.00 plus shipping.
2 rims from this buy = $100.00 including shipping.
If you scroll through some of the other group buys on this forum you will see that many start out fine but at some point people get frustrated with the amount of time it really takes to make these happen.
I prefer to be up front about the timing so that people go in with their eyes wide open and as informed as I can make them.
I'm not sure what you mean about the 'rules' of a group buy.

This is a stand alone deal at this point. I haven't spoken with Psimet about any special pricing related to this group buy.
Having said that, I know Psimet (http://www.psimet.com) will work out deals if you are providing rims or hubs for the build. If you'd like to make arrangements with Rob I could ship directly to him for you and you'd save a bit on shipping.

What time frame will we be looking at for delivery?

What time frame will we be looking at for delivery?
It will be approx 30 days between when I place the order and when the rims show up at my office. It then takes me a few days to sort, pack and prepare the paperwork.
Once I ship delivery is 14 business days to you.
I'd like to place the order asap because I also need rims for other projects. My best guess is a start date in 2 weeks. That puts the timeline at about 60 days from now until the rims are in your hands.

I can vouch for BDop.
He's been working for Colmax Taiwan, the local Campagnolo/Frulcrm/Deda importer, for many years. We met a couple years ago at the Colmax booth in Shanghai Bike Show. BTW he's quite good looking too, almost as handsome as I am:innocent:
His business is legit. Many forum members including me have bought stuff from him.

All of the hubs from the first and the second group buys have been shipped.
I have a new order for inventory coming in November. These hubs will be at the regular price on my website as they are regular stock items.
If, however, you ordered rims from this group buy I could extend the group buy pricing on the hubs as well. I would then ship them together.

Yes.
Ideally I would like to close the buy and place the order this week so the rims will arrive when I need them.
Also, others have already paid for product and I don't want to make them wait any more than is necessary.
You can email (sales@bdopcycling.com) me or order through my website (http://www.bdopcycling.com).
