A fellow clyde and friend finished his daily 10 mile ride. He was in the garage with the bike on top of him and laying in a pool of blood when his wife finally found him. Apparently, he finished his ride and was putting the bike up when he had a heat stroke and fell back hitting his head on something. His wife new he was gone longer than expected and started looking for him. She drove his entire route, stopping and asking people if they had seen him. She then found him in the garage. He was in his late 50's early 60's. He had lost over 100lbs in the last 3 years due to the bike. He loved riding. He and his wife were getting along better than they had in over 25 years.

Please watch and respect the heat. It was in the upper 90's and well over 100 with the heat index. I ride in this weather all the time but you have to make sure you stay hydrated and listen to your body.

It was 95 with an index of 102+ last week here in NE. Warm even for us. I didn't ride.

What a horrible story!

I think it's good advice. I don't like heat so don't tend to ride in it however, I know people no matter what... do their ride. Even if you think you are properly hydrated you just never know. It's not worth the risk. We need to keep safe and make the right decisions.
