Hi. My name is Eric although you can call me by handle, Flapdoodle.
I live and work in Portland, OR. I bike commute 3-5 days per week, a 21 mile round trip, and also do recreational rides on the weekend. I am currently stepping up my training in prep for the Tour De Cure, an event that benefits American Diabetes Association, when I will go 65 miles in a day (7-25-09). So far my record is 57 miles, a round trip to Oxbow Regional Park.
My primary ride is a 1972 Schwinn Varsity 10 speed (38 lbs.), although I also have an early 1970's 5-speed Sears touring bike for my "B" bike. [Full Disclosure: I just bought at Goodwill a mid-1970's Fuji ten speed that I will tune-up in the winter for usage in spring 2010...I'm saving that one, like a piece of candy!]
I guess you would say my bike usage is commuting and recreation, and that I dig vintage road bikes. Glad to be here!
