Road Cycling - 2004 USPS Jersey w/Discovery logo?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I can't wait to get a new 2004 USPS Jersey. However, with the Discovery sponsorship, the TDF jerseys are supposed to sport a small Discovery logo somewhere. I wonder if the retail jerseys will also begin carrying that logo as well? If so, which jersey would you rather have - the 2004 USPS Pre-Discovery (as available now), or the 2004 USPS w/Discovery (which might be available?)

If I was going to be given a jersey, I'd like it to be one of those yellow ones with the Credit Lyonnais logo's on it; after I was leading in the Tour de France. It's unlikely I'm going to earn that in the near future though.

If I'm going to buy one, it would be my club jersey.

(Sorry, I'm just feeling like a bit of an anti-snob snob today)

I never understand this. One part of me says I like the jerseys very much but would never actually wear one for fear of being labled. Another part says screw what others think - I'll take anybody on. I may get my arse kicked, but I won't back down from a good cycling challenge. Maybe it's because USPS is the obvious popular team here in the US? I'd consider a Phonak or Team Once jersey but not Bianchi (I hate that color).

Heck, my Trek 5500 isn't the USPS version.

I can't wait until the jersey companies wise up and make some jerseys with Molly Hatchet album covers on them.

I hope to be labeled as an enthusiastic Fan and Supporter of one of the greatest cycling teams - and the best that the US has put forth. Hey, I know I will never be able to ride at the level of the USPS Team or any other team for that matter. So pretty impossible to "earn" the jersey. But I enjoy being a fan. I have an old La Vie Claire jersey from Lemond's days, and I thought it was pretty cool. Now it doesn't fit me. And given that the team will morph into the Discovery team, I thought a USPS jersey would be a great way to commemorate such an incredible point in US Cycling history. And no, I'm not planning on wearing a "full kit". that's a bit much. I would wear my club colors , if I belonged to a club. Maybe soon.

You can tell that you really start loving cycling when you start thinking the clothing looks cool.

When you wear a cycling jersey designed by Mondrian like I do, then there is hardly question as to one's coolness whilst cycling. :)

I wear plain jerseys because I am a cheap bastard. I don't have a single one that is team oriented, but then again I am not on a team. I did however just buy a USPS jersey. I am going to save it in its original package and then 5 years down the road I am going to sell it on eBay. I probably won't make much more than what I paid for it, but it will be an interesting experiment.
