If you are then I may be able to help. Hackensack Bicycles on Main St. in Hackensasck closed down a while ago. Several weeks ago I called the management company to see what they were going to do with the bikes and stuff that was apparently abandoned and they said they would get back to me. Needless to say they didn't so I passed by there yesterday just as a dumpster was being dropped off behind the store. The management company that owns/and or manages the building is currently cleaning out the store. I was there this morning and picked aup a few things...ok, a lot of things..., 3 trunk racks, 2 mountain bike frames, a schwinn cruiser frame, some road bars with stems, a Brooks B17 saddle, countless stems, pedals, cranks and some rims and a bunch of other misc. stuff. There were still a lot of older schwinn road bikes and I believe a Fuji road bike in the basement when I was there. There was even an old Schwinn with a banana seat and apehanger bars and a Schwinn tandem too!! And some weird Strad bikes that looked like those foldable bikes but they werren't foldable. I would've taken them all but I could only fit so much into my Honda Civic! I will be passing by there again tonight to see what was thrown out and if I could fit anymore stuff into my car. It's a shame that they would be thrown out like that...I'm sure someone could use them. The only thing is I never told you about this ok? Thanks! The guy cleaning out the place told me not to tell anyone so it's best you go there at night to avoid any problems.

Thats a shame, I am surprised there isn't a national company that takes over in such a situation and eBays the stock...

Ya, I was telling the guy that too who was in charge of throwing all the stuff out...he told me that if I wanted all the stuff I could come back with a truck and buy all the bikes off him for $30, just between me and him, wink wink. Told him I'd think about it but I'll probably just come back after work tonight and see what they tossed. He even put aside several bikes for himself too!

I would if I had a truck instead of the Civic. I went back there at lunch today but they were gone and kept the bikes downstairs. I guess he figures if he could make some cash off of someone elses trash...
I did find a Park Tool apron though! I'm thinking of going back there again tomorrow after work to see if they finally throw the bikes and see if I could somehow fit some of them in my car and on the Thule trunk rack I got from there today! Man, dumpster diving for bike parts is fun. Yesterday I had put aside some parts including some Shimano 105 brakes and about 4-5 Araya rims with the intention of coming back after work with my car and picking the stuff up but someone had pilfered my pilferage. Oh well...
Were you looking for anything in particular? A lot of the stuff is very old road stuff...bikes, brakes, rims (mostly 26" and 27" as well as some kids sizes).

I could do with some tools, or some NOS vintage mtb stuff. Whats the deal? Any gems, or was this a mom and pop store?
I love vintage road bike stuff.

No tools, other than the odd wrench here and there...I'm going again tonite with my emptied out Civic to see what I can still salvage. I'll take a gander at any vintage MTB stuff.
I'm interested in Schwinn parts, bikes, etc. Especially the cruiser frame ( I really want to build a cruiser) and the bike with ape hangers and banana seat. If you did get them and are willing to sell them, let me know.
Thanks,

"but someone had pilfered my pilferage" Ironic, but you did well anyway. I would have filled my van & returned with a U-haul trailer or truck.
