Inspired by Rallison, I had planned to do Figueroa Mt. from the eastside this 4th or 5th. I even mapped out my route on mapmyride. I was going to ride from Vandenberg Village to Fig Mt. for a 85 mile round trip. I included my favorite cafe, Los Olivos Cafe, in the area. But now I hear the Circus is coming to the Neverland Ranch.:( La Purisma Hwy, 101 and 154 will be off the hook. I guess it will be good for the local economy. Do you think that will be the end of the solitude and quiet of Los Olivos and Neverland will turn into a Graceland?

Wasn't Neverland Ranch going into foreclosure or some similar condition due to MJ's financial situation? I'd think the pandemonium will only be short lived. They'll have the celebration, the crowds will start to thin over the next few months, Neverland will probably sold as MJs estate is disbursed through probate (or similar), and the Los Olivios area will return to its normal quiet splendor as a great bike riding area.

Graceland was also facing foreclosure, but Priscilla Presley was onboard. Who is savvy enough to manage Neverland?

Hmmm...

Ugh, the potential for profit there...

I'm not a huge follower of MJ, but I believe there was a zoo AND an amusement park there, and gardens. I think I remember reading somewhere that some of the rides have already been removed.

Crazy. Like Elvis, he had unique and flamboyant taste in furnishing.

Ever notice that when the media wants to describe a place of controversy, its followed by "compound".

Some early talk about turning Neverland into a museum for MJ, ala Graceland. I hope that doesn't happen. Because if it does, the crowds will begin to appear in the area all year, hotel prices and development will zoom and that will be that. My wife and I have done several rides based out of Solvang and really like things as they are.

grrly -

Thanks for the tip on the Los Olivos Cafe.

We're gonna be camping up at Jalama Beach for the 4th weekend and I think we might drive out to that cafe to check it out as one of our exploratory excursions.

Menu looks Mmmmm good.

Thank goodness. I'll still plan my ride for another time. They say the road leading to the ranch is packed with satellite trunks and cars. I'll wait until the novelty wears off. I guess it's AC this weekend dodging motorcycles.:(
