I am doing a ride soon on the usual roads, familiar to a lot of us, that form a nice loop around the rural outskirts of Livermore.

East on Tesla, NE on Cross, W on Patterson Pass, N on Greenville.

This is about a 12 mile stretch from Robertson Park to the intersection of Greenville and Las Positas that I ride pretty often.

My question is: Does anyone know of a water source anywhere out on this loop?

I often ride this loop as part of one of my favorite unsupported Century routes that takes me from Concord to Livermore and back. I have always just made sure my bottles are topped off before I swing out around this very dry loop. So far no problems have arisen from that plan, but I am just wondering if there is any water out there.

Thanks for any suggestions.

At Greenville and 580, on the eastern tip of Livermore, there's a gas station I've used to fill-up. They even have a bathroom. I think this is toward the end of your loop though :(

What, you mean everyone doesn't carry a 100 ounce camelback with them everywhere they go?

There is a restaurant on the north side of Tesla just west of Greenville that would likely give you a refill. Otherwise, pretty much nada.

There is another possibility, but it entails a slight shift in your route. Once on Patterson Pass, instead of turning north on Greenville, continue straight on Patterson Pass. In a mile or so, you will come to Vasco Road. Cross Vaco Road. There should be a couple of baseball/softball fields on the far right corner. (If not, they are a little further along Patterson Pass on the right.) I have never had occasion to look, but I'd bet that there is a water fountain somewhere in that area. From there, you can go north on Vasco and pick up your regular route, or you can go to downtown Livermore.

As a practical matter, I would think refilling at Robertson Park should get you around that next 12 miles even on the hottest days. But what do I know? :innocent:
