General Cycling Discussion - A wet one!!

I had a great ride along the lakefront Monday..getting soaked along the way.
I enjoy biking in the rain...a nasty system passed through but left steady showers.
There were quite a few brave souls out,too.
The only downside was the 12/13 mile per hour wind from the southwest. :(

I rode last night but was lucky enough to get home before the rain fell, it can really be cold if your drench with water.

I hear ya! I love riding in the rain. As far as I'm concerned, nothing beats a good downpour for riding. The thing is, once you let go of the fear of "getting wet", the whole experience becomes extremely liberating.

Geez, I 'd like to try riding in the rain--if I could keep my much-needed glasses dry, so I could see. With my prescription there's nothing worse than rainy/steamy and/or dirty glasses. I don't mind the rest of me getting wet, but keep the frikin' water off my face/glasses!

I guess I am lucky to live and ride in any area that doesn't get all that much rain!

I know nothing about visual impairment, but I'm going to ask anyway. Have you tried contact lenses?

Yep, I have tried twice, hard and soft lenses. I could never wear them much more than 2-3 hours at a time because my eyes would dry out so much that I was putting eye drops in every couple of minutes.

I'll have to pick up some Rain-X and see how it works.

Can it go on plastic lenses that are anti-scratch coated?

I can think of two prominent types of wet in life, and both are quite, quite nice.

On a mountain bike, it's the most fun you can have while clothed. I'm not sure I'd take the road bike with its slick tires out, though.
And then there's the drying/oiling at the end of the ride. It's worth it, though.

Well, y'all got something I ain't got.
Sure, it can be invigorating, but I hate it after my feet are soggy, I have about nine percent braking power, and the water collects on the front edge of my helmet and swings back and forth with my cadence, right in front of my eyes...
Then I've got to thoroughly clean the bike, scrub the residue off the brake pads, etc.
Can really be a PITA, especially when getting home late and work the next day...

But I'll take the chance!

It has been raining everyday down south. Sort of annoying imo.

It's almost July and I haven't had to water my yard yet. I don't recall having this wet of a spring and summer in the 13 years I've lived down here in N. Texas.

Yep, when I lived in West Virginia, on most days it was either ride in the rain, or not ride at all. It wasn't the rain that bothered me, but the greasy MUD. Muddy mountain biking kills your equipment and ruins the trails. But like I said, it's either ride in the mud, or not ride at all.

Geez, I like riding in the rain, too -- but it was pretty cool that day if I remember right. I don't enjoy riding in the rain if it's cold.

Way to much lightning to ride in the rain around here. I try to catch a quick ride between thunderstorms. LOL!

yup me too, love it sometimes .im a heavy sweater so cool rides in the rain seem to really keep me fresh.besides it always smells so good after or during a rain. but not a downpour just a nice gentle rain. "who'll stop the rain" love that song,gotta love creedence
