I'm trying to commute home from work at least occasionally. Monday was the last time that I did so and I felt like it nearly killed me. I thought that it was the 20 MPH headwind that was killing me, and in truth I know that it didn't help. But while I was installing a new computer tonight I noticed that my rear wheel wouldn't spin freely. It appears that I accidentally undid one of the springs on my V-Brakes and the brakes were locked, pressed, interfering with the wheel. Yep, I rode 18 miles home with the brakes on...:trainwreck: To tell you the truth I like good old fashioned cantilevers better for stopping power anyways. And now I like V-brakes even less. Oh well, I at least got a good workout.

hah, i can out stupid that. I think it was monday or Tuesday I was flying (for me) down a major city street when I noticed my right end cap was hanging out of the handle bar. I reached down to push it in. It would not go in. So smacked it pretty hard to knock it in. I did not crash, but I came soooo close. Talk about stupid. But the end cap did go back in.

Want stupid? I was showing off doing a no hands trackstand in front of a bunch of college girls over on campus back in May. You guessed it, over I went....:p The worst part was I got tangled in the bike, stuck in the pedals and they had to help me get untangled because I actually tipped into a dang rose bush and got tangled in the thorns. :p

Nothing hurt but my pride, though. :p The things middle aged fixed gear guys will do though Sheesh!

Thats hilarious Tom, I haven't wiped out bad yet but I'm betting the first time I do will be because of those foxy mamas on the paths. I did get my shoelaces caught up in the pedal the other day on top of a hill but thankfully I was going about 2 mph .

I once ran into a trashcan, on the Boardwalk in Virginia Beach, as a result of a particularly well fitting bikini! (No, not mine!)

If you rode fixed having your shoe laces caught in your pedals while going down hill would make an excellent posting to the MS Paint your mishaps thread http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=514470

If you haven't seen it .....You need to. It'll make any moron feel better knowing he's in good company.

I did something like this one time, but my end result was smashing into a streetlight on the corner of a particularly busy street and falling into the street and nearly getting run over by a F-150 (**** of it is, nobody of the approximately 20 people that saw it happen even offered to help).

Well... my incident was close enough for my tastes. I was JRA on a bike path when a rider coming towards me drifts into my lane, but not looking towards.

I ring my bell. No reaction.

I speak: "Bike up!" No reaction. (I start braking.)

I yell: "Hey!!" He finally sees me, nails the brakes, and we come to a stop nose-to-nose.

Then I look over to see what caught his attention- we're right next to Hooters, and the girls are out in the parking lot practicing their routines.

I looked at him, looked at the Hooters girls, looked back at him, grinned, shrugged, and rode around him. I can't excuse him, but I guess I forgive him.

I drove to the top of a mtn climb (GMR). I parked my truck at the top then figured I would climb back up after the descent. Luckily I only went down 5 miles. I tunred to climb back up and thought I was going to die. So tough that I wanted to cry!

While loading my bike into the truck, I noticed the tire was rubbing on the chainstay. I took it to the shop and the guy said I broke the rear axle. He asked if I had noticed a difference in the ride, Well YEEEAH!:D

I ran my bass boat into a dock once cause of one of those dang bikinis.

Did you ever try to cut with a chain backwards on the chainsaw? :D

Being somewhat mechanically inclined, I changed the thermostat on my car. Things went well, I swapped it out. After the change the car kept getting really hot. I took it a mile away to my friends house, he asked what did I expect the car to do with no coolant. I forgot to put anti-freeze and water back in the radiator. DOH!
