General Cycling Discussion - New Bike Advice
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Need advice on buying a new road bike. I am a 50yr old recreational rider and looking to spend around $1,000+. Among the bikes I have considered:
Jamis Ventura Comp
Any suggestions would help

Hey buddy. at that price point they will all be pretty good. Go with the one that fits you best, if they all do, which one looks the coolest, if they all do what shop do you like best. All good, enjoy the :thumb:choice and let us know.
What sort of rider are you? Do you like to run with roadies, do Centuries, just go for rides of an hour or two on the weekends?
Your bike shop wouldn't have any leftover Jamis Quests from last year, would they? Never got to try one, but I like the looks of it.
Try a Specialized Sequoia. Actually, test ride a bunch of bikes, see what you like.

Trek has the best warranty behind their bikes - if that helps.
But yes - test ride all you can.
