Seek and Destroy- Metallica
Hell Bent for Leather- Judas Priest (the tapping solo is so ace, especially on my acoustic :D)
Blackbird- The Beatles
Last 1.5min of Seabeast, by Mastodon is bliss. I feel like Erwin Rommel riding a T-rex when I play this.
Fellow guitarofiles, what say you?

Beast of Burden - Rolling Stones
Easy as all get-out to do the basics. Much more difficult to nail that loose rhythm and get all the tasty fills that are running around it. Great tune to jam with and play with the rhythms. Works electric/acoustic/slow/fast. Lot of fun when you've got a good bassist and drummer who listen to what's going on and will change things up.
And I'm not even that much of a Stones fan.

Start with Jimmie, build up a lot of callouses and work your way up:D
I worked for a long time to nail Cream-era Clapton...I finally got it, more or less, at one point many years ago, but now i can barely play that stuff....sooooo rusty.

BTW, in guitar shops, "Blackbird" is considered the acoustic equivalent of "Stairway To Heaven"...i.e. the song most played by people who pick up a non-amplified guitar. Honorary mention goes to "Dust In The Wind" by Kansas.
I forgot to put the latter on my list too.

Many Beatles tunes are great fun to play - Rain, 8 Days a Week, Two Of Us are some of my favs.
Classic Stones like Brown Sugar and Angie.
Heaps of Neil Young - Cinnamon Girl, Tell Me Why, Down By The River...
Early Who like Substitute, Kids Are Alright.
When electric, few things beat playing AC/DC tunes like Highway To Hell, Back In Black and Shook Me All Night long.
I guess you could say mostly white Anglo's playing R&B influenced music.

I had to add a few more acoustic fingerpicking tunes...mainly because I don't own an electric!
1. Currently I am learning (but struggling with) "Little Martha" by Duane Allman
2. "Ventura Highway" by America (I love the intro riff)
3. "Dead Or Alive" by BonJovi
4. "4 + 20" by Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young. EBEEBE tuning...I can play this one really well!
5. "Hotel California" by The Eagles
6. "From The Beginning" by Emerson, Lake and Palmer
7. "Mother Goose" by Jethro Tull
8. "End Of The Line" by Traveling Wilburys
I can play the living **** out of that song too.
Is there slide on that one? I am hearing that part where they sing along with the guitar line....
Lowell was a terrible loss...so young!

Stephen Stills' finest moment, imo.:thumb: I love "Find the Cost of Freedom" as well....
I went on a massive Byrds kick some months ago...David Crosby, once upon a time, had one of the finest voices on God's Green Earth.

that piece is one of the most technical pieces I ever played... on the piano :innocent:
seriously- I played plenty of Chopin & Mozart pieces that were not that technically demanding.

You'll notice I didn't post ME playing it, I posted John Williams doing it. I can barely work through the first half. I will eventually master this piece, though and post a vid of me playing it. :p

I didn't say I played it well!
What made matters worse is that I didn't start using a pick until september, so I fingerpicked everything (I started playing february '08). Do you have any idea how ridiculous master of puppets is when fingerpicked?

 that sounds interesting.....
Beck went from pick (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATu5ZVUO0KI&feature=related) to no pick around '84. Didn't hurt him any.... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsfL6ATX1i4&feature=related)

Doesn't sound like it on the lead in, but there's always slide in those Little Feat songs, both from the L. George and the post Lowell era. I play it without a slide, figured it out by ear, so for all I know they play it completely different. But my version sounds pretty close to the recording.

Surprised no one mentioned these:
Tull: Sossity
CSN: Wooden Ships (the Airplane version is pretty good too, but it works better acoustic, IMO)
Santana: Europa
The Asturias, by Albeniz is really fun to play. :D
I've only ever tried the first 16 bars of that -- but tried to learn it WAY before I was ready so it didn't go too well. I've recently been working on John Dowland's Fantasia. Just beautiful, beautiful music, and immensely rewarding to play.
I know it's come up before, but I loves me some John Dowland.
I can't begin to imagine playing that stuff myself but i sure have fun listening to it!
