Hi,
We are students from Toronto and want to do a bike trip from Montreal to Ottawa, but are not able to figure out if there is any way to bring
bikes from Ottawa to Toronto for cheap (around $50/person). We are planning to take our bikes to MTL on Coach Canada but there seems to be no bus service from Ottawa which allows bikes and Greyhound is a quite expensive for bikes.

why not just bike across from Ottawa to Montreal? it is right across the bridge.

there are train rides from Toronto to Ottawa, the fare is aprox. $50

hmm.. prices went up a bit, now is like $70 after tax

make sure to check out the Old Port area of Montreal, it's open 24/7
that area is always alive, there are cheap hotels in that area. ;)
i always stay around that area when i visit.

it's aprox.another 15 to 20min ride to the East, from the park where the map ends.

One alternative would be to bike up the Rideau Canal to Kingston, then bus or train to Toronto. The Rideau Canal is a pretty awesome ride. Some people push it and do it in one day. It's probably more reasonnable to break it down into a two-day ride.

You can take bikes on VIA (when it's not on strike, that is :-/) for $20 per bike. It has to be a train that allows oversize luggage, which there usually are a couple per day. The problem is, there are no trains that allow oversize luggage between Toronto and Ottawa at all. You'd have to get to Cornwall or Kingston.
