Classic & Vintage - Help me find shoes for these pedals.

So i recently purchases this used Torelli and it will come with clipless pedals (pictured). I have been using toe-clips until now, but hey what a great time to make the change. However i am completely unfamiliar with what shoe/pedal combos work and don't work, actually I'm relatively unfamiliar with clipless as a whole. i posted this in the road cycling forum and they said that the shoes/cleat required are obsolete. In any case It would greatly appreciate if anyone could suggest shoes that would work well with these pedals, and are pretty cheap, as i just bought the bike and haven't much money left for shoes :)

p.s. the bike hasn't arrived yet so i can't really answer any questions that the picture doesn't take care of.

I'm a toe-clip guy myself so I'm no expert. I don't believe any claim of "obsolescence" made by the road forum guys though.

Those cleats will work, but I don't know of any shoes that will work with them.

You are probaly better off buying something current.

damn i was trying to get off the cheap way, maybe i'll stick with toe clips for now after all.

Those are Time pedals. If you're size 44, I have a pair of shoes that's been used for about 4 rides, red, gray and yellow. Also, the cleats, and a lower-end (but also red) pair of pedals that are brand new.

Those are Time brand pedals.....NOT obsolete and still manufactured.

Most (if not all) road specific bicycling shoes made since about 1992 or 93 will have holes in the sole that accept multiple brands of clipless pedal cleats....including Time. You DO NOT have to but Time brand shoes.

I've used Lake shoes....Vittoria....Time.....Sidi.

I used to be "clipless phobic" until I tried them. One ride was all it took to convince me that using clipless pedals are the way to go. The pedal stroke is way more effecient....I actually feel connected to the bike in a way that clips never gave me - and I used them for years also.

My advice.....go clipless. You won't regret it.

David, those are old Time Equipe pedals. You need an adapter plate to use the cleats with modern shoes.

They use a front and rear cleat, both with two mounting holes.

Sorry, but you are wrong, they are NO LONGER manufactured, but still available. Many newer shoes DO NOT have the proper mounting for them, hence the need for an adapter plate.
