Eastern Canada - I'm going to Montreal - Where to buy a bike?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I live in the UK and my work have been kind enough to offer to fly me to Montreal for a meeting!
I was originally going to buy a new laptop whilst I was there saving myself ~£150 on the UK retail price - But then I thought what about a new road bike.......
I had a quick look through the usual Google results and dealers linked from the Specialized website but savings don't seem to as good as I was going to get on my laptop.
Anyone got any good recommendations of either bike shops in Montreal or a specific make (US manufactured perhaps?) which might give me a good deal? I'm not sure I can get one delivered from an online retailer the hotel via DHL but I guess it is an option!
Many thanks
p.s. To narrow down the results I'm probably looking sub £500 which is about C$950

ABC bikes on Park has a decent selection of high end bikes with excellent pricing. Le Yeti also has a nice selection of bikes with good prices and within walking distance of ABC bikes. Just down the street from Le Yeti is Cycle Gervais Rioux, very expensive, high end racing bikes. All within walking distance of each other covering the full spectrum of bikes.
Cheers

Cycle Technique is just west of downtown near the Lachine canal and Atwater Market. They have a good selection and are very helpful, but their website seems to be down. http://www.411.ca/business/Quebec/Montreal/Cycle-Technique/4058457.html

If you have the time, skip on over to Ontario. Pick up a bike here and save the 8% Provincial Sales Taxes. The Government has an incentive on bike purchases in Ontario until 2010. You only pay the 5% Goods and Services Tax. :thumb:

Look at Marinoni and Guru, both great bikes made here. Out of your quoted price range but cant you get it through your emploiyers bike to work programm, where the cost is deducted from your pretax pay.

I am not sure where to go but i can tell you who to avoid. Do not go to 'Dumoulin Bicycles' On Villray. When I went to repair my bike they charged me for parts that they claimed they had replaced with knew ones but when I took a look myself becuase of a 3rd break down I was convinced that they had just modified my old part and stuck it back in, in which, they charged me $15 on top of the $170 they had charged me before hand. Also when i was in the store there were 2 other customers that had picked up thier bikes that day and found that they were worse off then when they dropped them off were being chaged for it! Avid them at all costs. they are scam artists.
