Bicycle Mechanics - Having some fun now!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Spent a wonderful day in my shop on Sunday. Stoked up the old wood burning stove, and got it to a very comfortable temperature despite the fridgid conditions outside. Put my recent garage sale find up on the bike stand, and went to work. Stripped a really beautiful old Nishiki road bike down to the bare frame. I picked this bike up because of the beautiful lug work on the steel frame (yes, I am an addict...lugoholic!) I was surprised that for a bike that has been neglected for a while, everything came apart rather nicely...at some point, someone cared for this bike! I already have new hubs and rims and a cassette, so a few spokes, a BB and cranks, some bar end shifters and maybe some new brakes, and someone is going to have a great bike!
Stay tuned, my friends, as I know I will be back with questions!!
You can always tell the guys who had a fun weekend. They come to work Monday with greasy fingers!

Ooh I like!! Mine's red too. Quite a bit older and low end but fun just the same. A great first road bike for someone who wasn't sure about them. I'll show you mine (suicide brake levers and all) once I get a pic of it.
The Nishiki rides pretty well and has nice cut-out lugs filled with gold highlights. It's my commuter and rain ride, so I end up doing most of my miles on this one.
I guess it's about 20 years old but I got it in new condition six years ago. Eventually I ended up replacing everything but the frame and forks.
The drivetrain is now Suntour Superbe Pro with Dia-Compe Gran Compe brakes.
Looking forward to seeing pics of yours.
