General Cycling Discussion - Anyone tried Giordana Silverline stuff?

So I've started cycling every day for decent distances (nothing too crazy, mind you) so my usual outfit consisting of a light shirt and rolled-up jeans simply ain't cutting it anymore. So I'm looking to invest in my first cycling outfit! I've been shopping around for good but inexpensive bibs and jerseys for a couple weeks now; I'm a student, so I can't afford whatever Assos top-of-the-line thing. I found this Giordana bib (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=32300) and jersey (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=39140) for quite cheap on a British site (they become $57 each with the current exchange rate). I haven't ordered from this particular site, but I did order my Brooks saddle from another British website and the shipping honestly didn't take all that much longer than it would have from a U.S. seller, if you can believe it--couple weeks max. But anyway, the review of them at Competitive Cyclist is positive, but that's also a retail website so how can I trust it? How do you guys that have ridden in these like them? Do you have any recommendations in a similar price range? I've been reading good things about the Performance Ultra II bib, but even that's more expensive than the Giordana bib from the Brit site. What do you guys think?

I own a pair of giordana bibs. They are one of my favorite bibs and a good value. The only bibs I like more are the sugoi rs bibs.

There's also this Tenax Carbon bib (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=32308) that's still not all that expensive. Is this maybe the European version of the Tenax Laser, or something different?

Don't know about the "Carbon" Tag but I can recommend the Tenax bibs. I used to pay about £40 for bibs or shorts but went up to the Tenax on the recomendation of my LBS. They are good.

Have either of you had any issues with durability? That seems to be one negative I've seen a few times now, that the stitching frays after only a few rides/washes, or that the logos start coming off.

Had mine for a year now and no quality issues. No stitching coming loose- no mis-shapen liner and no loosening of the grippers on the legs. The fit is a good as it was when I bought them and comfort still there. And milage is about 4,000 at present on this pair.

And Bibs over shorts- When you mature (Get older) you want less strain around the midriff. It can get tight around that area, even for young riders, and the comfort on a ride by not having your stomach restrained in a staightjacket is very rewarding as you struggle up the steeper hills.
