Hey guys
So three friends and I want to do a ride in the Bay area on Sunday. I wanted to ask for your expertise as to which routs are the best. Our ideal would be to do a 20-25mi max trip (one way) hopefully across the Golden Gate and then end up somewhere like Sausalito and go jump in the water (then ride back)

anyone know if any such thing exists? Or does any one have any good recommendation for where to go for a good ride in and around SF.

Thanks a ton for your help!!

Ride across the GGB. At the end, you have two choices, up the hill (Marin Headlands) or down the hill to Sausalito. The views if you go up are amazing. Just keep going up to the top and descend on an amazing one-way road that is very scenic but feels like a roller coaster. At the bottom, turn right and follow the road back through the tunnel to the main road. Take the main road downhill to Sausalito and have some ice cream or something and look at the boats. Then continue on to Tiburon (google Paradise Loop for more specific directions). You can get some lunch in Tiburon and I think there may be some beaches there (it's never been warm enough that I wanted to swim there). Tiburon is beautiful. If you decide to get wasted, you can jump on a ferry back to SF (don't drink and ride). Otherwise, you can continue on the Paradise Loop through a gorgeous shady road in the woods and eventually circle back to Sausalito. Time for more ice cream (or maybe a donut). Then ride up the hill and cross back over on the bridge. You will have a great day!

PS- If you are under 21, then ignore the part about "getting wasted." You will understand that later.

Again, drinking and riding equals certain death, so don't do it. You should join one of our rides sometime. Just watch out for a dude named Pete. He will ride you into the ground and make you cry like a baby.

Sausalito is very congested and not a worthwhile bicycling destination in itself. If you want to ride over the GG Bridge, do the Marin Headlands loop instead. Only go through Sausalito if you want to continue on to Tiburon or Mt. Tam.

Roja was often shocked when people said to him "oh, you are the lawyer guy from bike forums, nice to meet you" upon first meeting him.

Hey Deebo- sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I hope you had a great ride. In case you didn't figure it out, the one-way road is called Conzelman. You can see a map of the Headlands Loop here: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/kml/episode.kml?episodePkValues=8551298

And the other stuff is just inside humor from bikeforums. You should start riding with us and then it will all make sense!

Look up Paradise Loop.

But don't run any stop signs/reds in the North, chances are, you will get a ticket if there's a cop around.
