Road Cycling - My Head is Sunburn and Sweating...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Do the Cycling Caps (worn with the helmet) help. My hair is thin, sweat gets in my eyes, and the air-borne bugs sometimes walk about my scalp. The aids say they fit fine under the helmet, will wick off the sweat, and are rated at 40+SPF to protect from the sun rays. Sounds like a great product. Does anyone use these things, and do they work? Thanks for any information.

Yep. Get a coolmax (or similar wicking material) bandana or two... they really work. Cooler on hot days, warmer on cool days, no sunburn on the balding scone, and no sweat running down the face.

I'm pretty bald so I use a helmet liner. It doesn't have a headband in it per se, but even so, it seems to help keep sweat out of my eyes. And here in Arizona, my head needs all the help it can get.

Best cap on market is made by Halo and called the Protex. Fits fine under helmet and really prevents sweat drip into eyes in addition to everything else it does.

I still have a lot of hair on my head and that makes me sweat even more I think. It used to run down inside my glasses and drove me nuts. On the advice of the peeps here, I got one of these. Works like a champ!
