Can anyone confirm that it is possible to spread the Topeak Explorer Rack to be able attach to the Santana 160 spacing?

Seems hard to imagine it is so rigid that a 12mm extra spread on each side would make a
difference. The three racks I have easily spread over 25-30mm without any apparent distress,
on each side.
