hello folks, my name is tom.
i've always liked bikes, now i have to depend
on a bike to get around while my wife is working.
wel in 1998 i became "legally blind" so driving a car
is out for me. i still can see good enuf to ride , & build
bicycles. therfore..... its became a way of life for me.
a friend helped me build a radical chopper two years
ago. people keep bringing me bikes, so i started fix'n 'em
up to sell, mainly been giving them to people who don't
have a bike.tryin to get others into riding,so they can learn
the relaxing side of life, & forget about the pressures of
everyday living. i found this forum today. joined to meet
others who share the enjoyment of riding, & learn how to
fix bikes, & maybe help others with things i've learned.
i'm looking forward to chatting with y'all. tom

Hi chopper Tom

its good to have you on board- the good thing is about the forum that all us bike nuts can understand and relate to what you have written 100%- keep on going making the world a safer place for bicycles

don`t like the sound of busting my Nadds (is that like Gonads?) though- is that abolutely necessary

what is legally blind? i've got 20/400 vision in my left eye and 20/200 in my right. i thought legally blind was 20/400. no ones taken my liscense yet. am i at risk for that happening? i've got 20/15 vision with my glasses on.

It's only if your vision can't be corrected to better than a certain level that you're considered legally blind. I've had 20/350 in one eye and 20/400 in the other since I was a teenager. If it couldn't be corrected I'd be "legally blind" but with glasses my corrected vision is 20/20 so there is no issue, other than that the Air Force wouldn't let me fly jets :)

Of course, now I'm an old fart and have noticed, especially since my bypass surgery, that my near vision is getting really, really poor...

well i have 20/200 in my right eye, with a 20 degree field of vision.
left eye , only see light. glasses don't correct my vision.
as long as you can pass the exam to get you d.l. with
your glasses. i think your safe. @ 20/15 with the glasses
you shuold be fine.
