Folding Bikes - No Folding Bike Shops in Salt Lake City?!?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Weird!

I needed to buy a new lock for my wife's bike. I already knew that there isn't a local Bike Friday dealer, but I thought I would throw my business at a local folding bike shop. Well, there aren't any.

There aren't any authorized dealers of any major folding bike brands in Salt Lake City. Well, there is REI where you can get the Novara Buzz, but no independent bike shops that are authorized Dahon, Bike Friday, Birdy, Brompton, Strida, Pacific... you name it.

Heck, in the small Illinois town I lived in prior to moving here there was at least a Dahon dealer. Anyway, thanks for allowing me to ramble.

I guess I'll just have to ride my folder around enough until people start asking their local bike shops about them. LOL

Oh, I know all about Thor. I just needed to grab a u-lock today and I found it odd that in a city this size there isn't even one folding bike shop.

Part of the reason I find it odd is that the city has a pretty extensive commuter rail and trolley system. I would have figured that some folks would ride the train and fold up... but I guess not.

Well, at least in San Fran there is probably a folding bike shop somewhere.

In other news... I finally went for a spin on the bike here in Salt Lake City. The weather was perfect, but it will definitely take some time before I'm used to the low humidity and altitude. Time to find a water bottle solution for my Tikit.
