Any disc golfers out there?

Um its called frisbee golf.
Every single guy at the college near my house plays. I tried it and thought it was more annoying then real golf.

I play every now and then. There's a course in Golden Gate Park not too far from me. The biggest challenge is talking friends into trying it. We call it disc golf around here. I have ~10 discs, none of which were made by Whammo ™.

I love it when people go there with a cooler full of like 50 different discs.

Up here people call it frisbee golf or "Frolf"

I keep meaning to do the unmarked course here at Stanford, but would look silly doing it alone. I had a frisbee in my office for the longest time, too, but it has since gone home.

We have a course here called Richmond Hill - apparently it is well known in the disc golf community.

I also :lol: at the serious dudes with 500 discs. Relax guys, its barely even a sport. But it is fun.

We have the oldest course in the country here in Huntsville. I need to get out and play some more!

I've played it once or twice with some of the guys from work. Nobody is serious about it or anything, but they sometimes play at the only close by course.

I've played it, but I suck balls. I was never good at throwing a frisbee, so my distance sucks and it nearly always hooks.

If it is called "frisbee golf", then why is it called the Professional DISC GOLF Association (PDGA)?

Disc golf is a fast growing sport here in the city of Lincoln. We have lots of tournaments at Max E. Roper Park (which is our most popular course) and Disc Golf is even included in our State Games.

"Disc Golf" is just an imitation of "Frisbee Golf" that is played with an imitation Frisbee. It just so happens that the imitation is more popular than the real game.

Disc Golf can not be an imitation of a sport that does not exist, plain and simply there is no sport called "Frisbee Golf" it is called disc golf and that is the cold hard truth.

Squeegiboo (sp) did a lot and in my hometown here, but I haven't seen him post in quite a while.

When I lived in CO we would play on campus at CSU. It was a lot of fun.

This is one reason people carry so many discs. There are discs for distance, midrange and "putting". There are also different weight, plastic compositions and rim designs that will help the disc fly in a certain manner depending on what kind of throw is used.

Disc Golf can not be an imitation of a sport that does not exist, plain and simply there is no sport called "Frisbee Golf" it is called disc golf and that is the cold hard truth.

You can continue to live your little fantasy all you want, but it won't change the fact that The Frisbee is the one and only original throwing disc, and Frisbee Golf existed long before the cheap imitations came out.

Well one should probably point out several errors in this thread. I have recently taken up this sport and in the short while I have found out that it was started in CA. I was created by Ed Headrick who worked for Wham-O and is the inventer of the 'Frisbee'. However Ed himself named the sport disc golf when he was inventing the sport and the basket catching device. So it never was 'Frisbee' golf. Frisbee is a name brand flying disc. It is kind of like Kleenex. Do people go around asking if you have a facial tissue they can use? Why no they ask for a Kleenex. But there are lots more companies out there that make facial tissues that just Kleenex. So people have come to know a flying disc as a frisbee. To help the less educated it is sometimes easier to call it frisbee golf so that they understand it uses a flying disc. But the company that Ed founded to make the baskets and disc is called the DISC GOLF Association. He even founded the PDGA and RDGA (Recreational Disc Golf Association). Keep in mind that this is the same guy the invented the FRISBEE. So it never was Frisbee Golf. And sorry but the first Disc Golf course was in CA, sorry Huntsville.

I used to play a lot, even competed. I was pretty good actually but I didn't have any long throws. Give me a nice technical course and I could weave a Stingray through the trees ;) There are a lot of nice courses up in the Washington D.C. area close by when I lived there.

Well then. I missed the part about where I was talking about throwing a Wham-o "Dinner plate" disc. I asked are there any disc golfers out there, I didn't ask if there was any people that are living in the past and throwing their dollar store discs at random objects.

I also didn't ask where it originated, or who created it, or what the proper name is, or how it is/was played.
