Hi all,

Got caught in a bit of rain Thursday morning and had some time on my hands to figure out a way to avoid some swamp butt and a nasty skunk stripe on the back of my shirt. Went into the local Walmart and came out with what was to become the newest addition to my fixie folder. I made the fender out of 2 aluminium baking trays I bought for $2 and some zipties and duct tape I already had with me.

Sorry, I forgot to take before pics so please enjoy the after ones.

Ghetto :)
Is that a stock chainring with chain guard removed?

What happened to original fenders?

Gear ratio looks huge.

Can't recall the gear ratio but I believe the chainring is 52t. I'll check tomorrow for certain though. It's not as big as you think.

I took the original fenders off when I first got the bike several years ago for that "oh so clean" look. They should still be in one of my parts bins somewhere in the garage. I was thinking of putting on the rear rack again though.

Haha haven't heard the word swamp but in many years. Fender makes the bike look original, good work!

great looking fender!
i'll have used a thik wire for the support
like those you get from the cloth hangers

that metal sheet looks dangerous :p

are you planning to paint it or leave it like that?

I was planning to use a wire coat hanger as added support but thought the rolled and stamped edge of the baking sheet would be strong enough. I also folded over the edges of the fender a couple of times so as not to cut myself or anyone else with it.

I dunno if I'll paint it or leave it. It kinda looks like one of those hammered steel fenders.
