Freinds and I were riding a couple of months ago came to a small town we had decide to stop for lunch. We didn't know any food stops in the area but as we rode into town I could smell the place we were going to have lunch at. Turned out to be the local tavern and the food was great.

I have to ride by a bread/pastry/cookie factory every morning. You can smell chocolate chip cookies for 3mi. Oh and then when I get into the lower income neighborhood there's a few mobile BBQ joints that setup. All that hickory smoke mingled with BBQ sauce....

My commute has me riding by a scented candle factory. My mouth starts to water the air's so loaded with sweet.

Some years back (I'll not forget it), I was headed home
through an older, "mixed-use" area near a university.
Lots of academia/creative/professional residents.
This was right around six p.m.

Through a one-mile area, I encountered at least a dozen
distinct and entirely unique smells of food cooking.
It was enough to make my head spin, and was like a fast
trip around the world.

One more reason why bike commuting rules.
(Maybe this should go in the Commuting forum...)

On my commute route I ride past a couple of steakhouses on the way home. Since people in Colorado seem to eat out really early, there's usually plenty of grill smell at around 530 or 6 when I go past. It usually makes me crave a steak myself and I don't even really like red meat that much!

The smell of bacon on Sunday morning rides is INCREDIBLE... that and the smell of BBQ, or garlic in the afternoon...

I also ride by the Maruchan Top Ramen Factory... it makes me wanna hurl... I lived on that stuff for like 6 weeks straight once in college... now the smell of it makes me sick

Unfortunately I'm not so lucky. I ride by an old cattle ranch on the way to work...manure piled 10 feet high..Its really hard to hold your breath and ride...
