Folding Bikes - I’ve been busy this afternoon...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Stripped down the Moulton, removed wheels, callipers, derailleur, chain and front suspension. Stripped front hub and repacked it with grease.

Gave the bike a good clean and made a start at putting it back together. Refitted the brakes and they now are working properly (Unlike when I bought the bike).

I found it quite enjoyable to work on this bike and I’m please with the results so far.

Yep, I get a charge out of working on my bikes as well. I'll pretty much gone through everything a couple of times except for changing a headset and of course Dahon stuff is pretty proprietary there but I want to change the headset on my MASI Speciale. Not because it needs it but because I want to figure out how to do it.

Nice pics.

Good looking bike. I see that you don't have cottered cranks. Someone must have upgraded the bottom bracket. Niiiice. The old Raleigh BB is a pain.

Took it out for a ride earlier, only a short 2 miles. The brakes are much better but I need new ball bearings (and possibly cones) in the front hub.

It was the Liverpool – Chester-Liverpool bike ride today and the route goes past our avenue so I rode up to the roundabout and had a chat with the marshal on duty... I then set off for home chasing and blasting past riders on the way back to Liverpool... Ok, Ok they where tired but it was still fun seeing their faces as I passed them on my moulton. :D
