This is getting harder and harder to take...we lost a Bakerfield rider not long ago to one idiot and now this happened to a neighbor last weekend while ridding a Tandem with his son.

I read about this happening out on the PCH but I didn't know they were riding on a tandem. 1:30 AM and a drunk driver who fled (but was apprehended). Very sad...

It seems to me the best way to avoid drunk drivers is to not ride at night.

What scares me more is the prospect of getting hit by someone texting while driving in broad daylight. This will become a more common occurance as time goes on.

Just because it isn't illegal doesn't make it right.

It is illegal here in Kalifornia but the fine is just a handslap and it doesn't even count on your driving record.
Only ones that seem to be enforcing it are the CHP and around town even the cops have phones to their ears most times.
