Great Lakes - Chicago bars showing th Tour?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Can't find much help online...no cable is a great thing every month but July.
Anybody know any bars that are cycling friendly?

Plenty online. Go to BF - Procycling threads. You can certainly get clips and there are at least 3 or 4 'live' feeds. I watched one myself this morning.

Thanks John. I was looking for something more social--a few teammates and I were talking about this and I'd love to make it happen.
We have a few cycling friendly restaurants (Handlebar) and, oddly enough, a place that is closer to haut cuisine than just a regular "restaurant", they showed the tour a few years ago, and there is someplace on the northside that showed PR back in April--I just can't remember the name and was looking for help.
Perhaps there are others out there?
Then again, there is always plan C...

Fox and Hound is showing it (Bloomingdale). Downtown, you might want to check Jefferson Tap (Jefferson and Fulton). They show a lot of sports in there. Another place was a pool hall off of Milwaukee right around that same area as Jeff Tap, and they have an area that you and your friends can take over and watch whatever you want.
Not sure if this was the haute cuisine restaurant to which you referred, but Brasserie Jo always shows the Tour.

If you're up this way, check out Cafe' Hollander (http://www.cafehollander.com/), the cycling bar on Milwaukee's fashionable east side. It' right on the Downer Ave race course, I know that a number of racers work there, and I'm sure you could find some good TDF TV there.

excellent thanks guys! this is really terrific--lets keep this going, its nice to give a little plug to places that support cycling!
tom, yeah that was the one...not exactly a place to eat peanuts and have a few beers--though I'm sure its great.
...sorry about the typo in the title.
nixternal, that info is perfect--very convenient for our group! We'll try em out and I'll give a nice little review here.
John, that looks like a great place to hang before/after the race! I'm sure it will be crowded, but hell, all the better.

slim, at Jeff Tap, if you see a grown man crying, don't pick on him. It could be a cop that would then assault you :p If you didn't catch it on the news, that is the spot where those Chicago cops beat that one guy up and their court case just ended. Jeff tap is a really nice bar, good food and drink.
City Hall is the name of that pool hall. In the back they have super cushy couches, good beer, and once again good food. They have a few large high def screens. Here is the spot on Google Maps:

^ooffff. I didn't see the recent coverage, but I remember when that happened...good advice, no bad cop jokes at that bar.
On the way home from the races today, a teammate and I stopped at the Globe on Irving Park, just east of Damen and they gladly put one TV on vs. It's a euro soccer bar (Secton 8 fans represent there, too) but hey it workds...good place, friendly people.
