Alright, so my day turned from "boring" into "I think I'm going to die" yesterday. The day was boring until i was tasked with building my development machine out of the scraps of 3 or 4 other machines. it was cool as i was taking computers apart and i was not bored. This was until I took a hard drive out of a dell and slamed my hand into the steel marked "NOT A HANDLE" on the dell case (if you have ever looked inside a dell you know what I'm talking about). Anyway, i though that it would be a scratch and when i looked at my hand i saw a deep gouge (1 inch by 1/4 inch) and my flesh.... cool... ok... so it took me about an hour to make it stop bleeding and this new building has 1 first aid kit that i could not find. After that i got my machines build with it bleeding from time to time. Finally it was time to ride, and i got to the spot where we meet just in time to catch my group as they were leaving. It was a great ride, and i figured out how to break climbers (its a great trick that I'll have to share with you all). Anyway, on the return trip no more than 3 miles from the end of the trip i was flying down a hill, drafted off of two guys and going up the next hill i pulled out right to go around them.... I was not the only one with this idea.... we hit and i locked up my rear break and from what the other guys I went sideways and then flew across a lane of traffic (i wonder why i never see such cool things). The gouge from the dell was bleeding by then and so were my knuckles and elbow. I was lucky the road was wet so other than a huge bruse on my hip and a little road rash i was fine. And My bike was fine too! when i get back to my car i call my parents and tell them about the crash and "cut" and tell them to get the digital camera out so i can get pictures. They said thats fine and that i should learn to ride better ;) When i got home i had not touched my injuries, so there was blood all over my hands and elbow..... my mother freaked out... and my dad took pictures(that will be posted later). After i explained what happened they insisted on a family outing... to the ER.
It was great trying to explain to the nurse (who's husban rides) and the Dr. (who used to ride) how this all happened... they both replied with "wow, you had a bad day." So, 3 hours 4 stiches, LOTS of neoporin and bandaids later... I'm back at work and will send dell some hate mail. My supervisor was joking that he should stay away from me since i look like i do. Not more than 10 min ago, our elevader got stuck, and he looks at me and said "you know i was only joking, but man you are bad luck!"
All is well now and I'm alive but man... life is a killer some days...
