on my shogun road bike, i have to spread the fork more than i want to get a wheel in there, and the bike doesnt seem to track straight when riding with no hands... im thinking maybe the fork is bent? are there anyways to determine if a fork is bent without the special tool or eyeballing it?

thanks

With the tools it would take a few seconds. But without them, hmmm. You could take a couple of old axles and nuts and clamp one in each drop out, pointed towards each other. This would let you see out of line realative to each other. Then to check center use a piece of ninety angle stock. Put it against the headset and down to the fork to see if the V lines up with the 50mm centerpoint. To check rake park it next to a similar fork and check profiles.
