My left leg is shorter than the right by 3/4" or 1.9 cm. I am setting up my first CX bike with Crank Bros Candies. I need ideas on adding length to my left shoe setup so I can have effectively equal length pedal strokes.
On my road bike, I use Speedplay pedals and it was very easy to add a spacer between the cleat and the shoe adapter plate. Having equal length pedal strokes has paid off handsomely. The Crank Bros cleat does not lend itself to a similar approach because of the small mounting footprint. Speedplay on a CX bike would probably not work well if the cleats get fouled with sand/dirt/grass/leaves/mud/etc.
I've considered the possibility of dissecting a shoe, adding material to the arch-to-toe section, and installing the cleat to this new material.
Any suggestions (besides giving up :) would be appreciated.
