I just saw lose your life on North Pleasantburg, near Graceland cemetery, I just want you to know I'm sorry.

I was going south, you were in the north lane trying to cross the road. I looked up, saw you dart across the road and run into the driver front wheel of some car. I didn't even have time to hold my breath and hope against hope you'd be ok. You lost your life so suddenly and completely.

I did want you to know I did catch a brief glimpse of a brave little squirrel trying to make it across and home to your family. I'm sure they will miss you and although I know it means nothing to you right now, I just wanted you to know you did touch my life.

Poor squirrel...

I smoked one with my motorcycle this morning on the way to work. Stupid bugger ran across two lanes and on into mine ahead of me. I thought myself "Ok, I'll swerve to go behind him, no problem." As I swerved, he decided to dart back into my path and I had no time to avoid him again. THUMP-THUMP.

I felt really bad for about ten minutes. First time I killed an animal on my bike.

Poor squirrel...

Seeing carnage on the road is bad,... seeing it actually happen was sad.

Was that me that got that rodent? A couple days ago leaving the neighborhood, a squirrel darts out into the road. I'm only doing 30 mph but can't hit the brakes fast enough. Thus ended the life of Mr., possibly Mrs., Squirrel. Could have been an intentional suicide because the squirrel didn't even do the "double pump" misdirection move, it just bolted directly in front of the car.

when I was a teen, some poor cat got owned on a residential street when my mom and I were driving on the other side of the street. I saw the kitty doing a weird "dance" on the shoulder. My mom pulled over, we ran to the kitty but my mom told me to go back to the car. She told me later she picked up the poor kitty trying to find his/her family but the kitty died in her arms. :(

I flattened a chippy yesterday on a rather challenging offroad downhill yesterday.

Don't worry. He'll puff right up when the sun gets to him and the gas fills up his decomposing little body. :)

If I recall correctly, that squirrel sent the cyclist to the ER via LifeFlight.
