I recently purchased the C'dale R2000 Caad4 Saecco Team Replica, all Ultergra. Now what I'm looking for is a decent helmet. I,ve narrowed my choices to four: 1-Briko--Twinner; Giro--Pneumo;Limar--107 plus;MET--it's an Italian company, but they make real nice covers! Can anyone give me any input as to which is better or is there such a thing? Thanks, Jeannie
I'm only familiar with the Pneumo. It is the best helmet I've ever had. It has so many vents that your head stays very cool.

This time of year, staying cool is not a big priority. The only advantage of very expensive helmets is the extra ventilation. They dont offer better protection.
Met are excellent helmets and I like them a lot. Whatever you get, look for one which will conform to the shape of your head ands get one in which the inner is moulded directly into the shell, not glued or taped in place. Flexible band fittings are far better than bits of stick-on padding..

I couldn't agree with MichealW more.
Your best bet is to choose the one that:
1. Fits you the best
2. Has the features you want
3. Is the right price
and not very important but still something to consider, looks.
Again, just make sure it fits well.

I use the Pneumo, and I'm a big fan. The vents, as mentioned, help keep you cool, and it comes with a visor, if you're into that sort of thing (I'm not, but I thought I'd mention it). The Roc Loc 4 system works great too. My helmet fits perfectly, and it doesn't move around on my head, even with out the chin strap.
Besides, it looks really cool. I don't have any personal experience with the other helmets you mentioned, but for what it's worth, the Pneumo wins the most LightBoy Style Points. The Limar is okay, but nothing really exciting, and with those three big vents, I think the Briko makes you look like some kind of strange bug with large eyes, but maybe that's just me.
Pneumo in red to match the bike.
I'm very happy with mine.
Have fun with that new bike.

If you need to lock your helmet to the bike, then fewer, bigger vent holes are better. I can fit a shackle lock through mine.

I agree with what the others say about fit.
I LOVE the way my Limar F107 fits.
Giros have never *quite* fit me correctly. I seem to be in-between sizes.

The Limar F107 is by far the most comfortable helmet I've ever used. Light, tons of air vents, neat adjusting system and good styling.
Skip the Etailers and catalogs and buy direct from Limar's web site and you'll end up paying less including overseas shipping. Plus you get a wide range of choices including many of the european teams: http://www.limar.com/catalog.html

Firstly, get whatever helmet fits the best. This is not something you want to make a poor decision on. Look for a good closure system, but again, primarily that the helmet fits your head. Pretty much all helmets at that price level have excellent venting, so that shouldn't be a major concern. Lastly, it's style. You could get the Pneumo, but is it because it fits, or because everyone else has it? The limar is a good choice, but looks a little clunky, or blockish. The Briko, however, it quite possibly the second sexiest road helmet out there (Next to this odd little Vigor model.) The thing has a certain attractiveness to its clean lines, similar to the attractiveness of a french jet-fighter. Get whichever helmet fits better, but if it's a draw, go for the Briko.

If you go for the Pneumo, Colorado Cyclist (http://www.coloradocyclist.com) currently has 2001 models at a pretty decent discount.

I have a Pneumo and LOVE it. Here in New Orleans we need all the ventilation we can get in the summer.
Having said that, I was THIS close to getting the Briko Twinner and don't even remember why I decided on the Pneumo. I still really like the look of the Twinner.
