Wow that's quite interesting. We often see wildlife on our family rides but i find it very difficult to actually ever film anything

Here is a video of a killdeer that I took today while on our bike ride.

No I do not carry the video camera on every ride, I just knew where this bird nest was and wanted to get a video of it.

Nice video.

Since you knew what kind of bird it is, I presume you also realize that the bird had eggs hidden in those rocks. She was acting wounded to draw you away from her nest.

I don't see much on my city commute really, but the rides out to the suburbs are really special when a turkey or cool insect or something shows up.

I live about a mile from the Toiyabe Natl Forest on the Calif-Nevada border, and three miles from where that abuts the Tahoe NF. I don't get up there on my mountain bike much anymore (you slow down when you pass 60, apparently), but for 25 years we took regular day and occasional overnight rides into the area. We've seen hundreds of deer, three bobcats, two bears, countless small animals (raccoons, skunks, one badger, marmots etc)--20 years ago it was a rare ride when we DIDN'T see animals, though that's changed as the area has become more crowded. One of my riding buddies spotted a mountain lion last year, apparently asleep on the deck of the last house on the road to the top of the mountain, and three lions (mother and two large young) were trapped about a quarter-mile from my house a couple of years ago. This isn't way out in the woods--I'm six miles from Reno, about half a mile off Interstate 80 where it crosses the state line. There are wild mustangs within a few miles, too.
