Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Does anyone have one of these for their truck?
I just got a truck and i usuallly bike with several people. I was thinking of getting one of these and mounting a bike in it and then using our U-Locks to tie 3 more bikes to the bike that is in the Thule. Will it be sturdy enough for this purpose? AT 130 bucks i dont want to buy 2 of them.
Any thoughts?
I have two of them and they are great; very convenient and secures the bike well. You should have no problem securing another bike or two.
I made somehting like http://www.ufpi.com/literature/bikerack-62.pdf was able to carry 5 bikes in the back of an s10 that way.
cool
that woudl be a heck of a lot cheaper.
Were you able to fit it north of the wheel wells? This might be my answer. I have a tacoma and if i could just drop one of these in up near the cab i could be all set. Put some eye hooks for bungies to hold the bikes to the rack and drive away.
well im off to the home supply store to see what i can build based on those plans.
Ill let you know what i come up with if anything.

buy a couple of the fork mounts. They sell for 20 bucks each at my LBS. You can then screw them into a 2x4 cut to length to fit in the bed of the truck. Instant bike rack.
im trying to avoid having to remove the front wheel. with a truck that just adds a hassle. If i had a SUV or wagon id be all over that idea. With a truck id rather just throw them in and go.
