Professional Cycling - Robbie McEwen

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
So I'm sitting watching the stage last night, and suddenly realised that I'd only heard Robbie's name mentioned in passing. A search of the team lists today showed he's not on the tour. Obviously I've missed a bit of news somewhere. Can anyone tell me why he's not on the tour?

He broke his leg in a crash in the Tour of Belgium in May. I believe he had to have surgery and had screws inserted in the break to help things heal. Looks like he'll be out for a while!
He has a twitter page if you're interested!

Thanks for that. Pity, with Cavendish just starting to soar in the game and Robbie still strong but nearing the end of his career, this TdF could have been the battle of the old bull vs the young bull.

I was hoping for that too, with Boonen apparently not at the top of his form due to various "problems." McEwen was always fun to watch. It would have been interesting to see him on Cav's wheel today instead of Farrar.

Robbie was in Monaco a couple days back for some therapy, riding and a dinner on a yacht owned by one of his sponsors.
He's making quite a rapid recovery and wouldn't be surprised to see him racing late in the year.
I think Cav is faster, but Robby has bigger balls and might force a better position.
Would've been great to see, but it's still fun to watch Cav literally ride Farrar off his wheel though :D
