So I finally bit the bullet and got the Big Dummy complete in red through Xtracycle's custom color program. Only changes I made to the bike was the handlebars, tires and added Electra fenders. After using my Hitch Haul I realized the BD was too long for it. I've used the Hitch Haul for years and its great. Since I did not want to spring for a tandem sized bike hauler I modified the Hitch Haul by using a 2x12 from my scrap lumber pile. I did not have 2x4s so I bought two at Lowe's for $4.98. Then I used 4" screws to fasten the 2x4 tire channel to the 2x12. Used 2x4s under the 2x12 in order to bolt the contraption using lag bolts underneath the Hitch Haul and I was done. Took about 5 beers to complete this project.

Now if you can rig a hitch up on the back of the BD to haul that Jeep you've cracked it :D

The red sure is eye-catching. Sure stands out compared to the military green/black ones around here.

Nice work, HPJeep. You've got my gears turning...

And love the red Dummy!

Thanks ya'll. I use the Hitch Haul for lots of stuff and really didn't want to buy an expensive bike hauler. My project might be a bit neanderthal but it was cheap, safe and effective. I'm a bit of a red color lover but I almost chose Chevy Hugger Orange. I would have been happy either way.

Great job on the hitch haul. I used the same haul when I had a jeep.
It seems that when hauling the Big Dummy, there can be only one.:)
