I could never understand why they risk themselves getting so close to the straggling oxen. It just freaks them out and they go after people. They must pray pretty hard to Saint Fermin.

for the pamplonicans, it's culture.

for some it's a challenge. for some (like the drunken americans, british, australians, etc) it's idiocy.

me... i wanted to do it since i was in high school, after reading The Sun Also Rises.

if i didn't have a 2 1/2 pack a day habit, a gut, and a knowledge that i'm a crap runner, i would have done it at least once during the several times i was there for san fermin.
