I managed to obtain a 1971 ROG Pony from my neighbor's shed...been there since the mid 70s, and a little rough. Most everything is save-able except the rims, which are pitted pretty badly and only have bare traces of chrome left. They use 20 x 1.75 tires, and have 28 holes each. I don't mind swapping out the front for a whole new wheel, but the S-A AW rear hub works really well, and I'd like to keep it.

Does anyone know of an inexpensive rim that I can use to replace these grotty steel ones?

For obvious reasons, I don't want to put a lot of do$h in to the little thing.

Thanks in advance,

Corey K

ebay.

just to be sure, do you need 406, 451 or some other ridiculous size like 419?

Thanks for the link! I added it to the Watch list. I do not know the differences between those sizes...are they ETO designations? The tires were marked "Tractor-Grip", 20 x 1.75, and made in Japan. They have wire beads, FWIW.

Thanks again,

CK

yep, 406mm 20x1.5~20x2.125, 451mm 20x1-1/8~20x1-3/8 are the most common 20" wheel sizes.
but there is another 419mm size that has 20x1-3/4.

the most annoying part is that the tire manufacturers frequently use fractional and decimal sizes interchangeably on the sidewall printing, so it adds to the confusion.

chrome rims and tractor grip you say? I think I had that combination exactly on my R20, except mine are made in korea and 36 hole with 20x1.75 printed on the sidewall. They were 406mm rims when I measured them.
