No kidding! I couldn't find any 51s in celeste at all! So I settled for a 2002 in blue instead. :( But what the heck. I'm riding a Bianchi. :)

I bought the stand from my local Performance Bike shop a couple years ago for my mountain bike.

It's called the "Performance QuickStand"

As the proud new owner of an EV3 Al/carbon frame in the new celeste/celeste paintjob like supreemo's, I'm definitely converted. I can't believe I actually thought about getting it in something other than celeste...
The Veloce is an awesome bike, it's amazing to see customers' react to a steel bike with Campy when they've been comparing it to aluminum crap with Shimano.

Sorry to crash in here, but could the guys who own the Virata give me a quick review. I rode one a while back and it seemed like a nice ride. However, when I first took it out, I actually broke the chain. Never happened to me before on any other bike. LBS owner says it was just a bad chain. Anyway, I didn't get to ride it long because of crappy weather. Any words about it would be very appreciated.

Thanks

I'd post a pic of my Bianchi Veloce, but it's exactly the same as yours, Supreemo, 03 and all. Congrats on your new ride. I hope you like yours as much as I love mine. The Veloce's a great ride - quick, responsive, and comfortable. Notice I didn't say "fast". That's up to you, I'm still working on "fast" with mine! There's absolutely nothing better than taking a ride on a Veloce :D . That's right....Nothing! ;) . The Celeste Army continues to grow....

Thanks. It's got some odd componentry on it for now but I'll see if I can scam a digi cam for pics...soon I hope to outfit it properly with Campy.

Dial up Sucks.

I'm logging in from my parents house in El Dorado Hills, CA and all they have is dial-up. Makes me appreciate how spoiled I've become by high speed internet.

Use your imagination to picture my Eros in the parking lot at the top of Pilot Mountain. The celeste contrasting nicely with the lush green trees and magnificent view.

That's the exact bike I have. The '03 Double Veloce (aluminum, I'm guessing), and I love it. Not to offend the Bianchi purists, but I purposely got in not in celeste. Not that I think the color is classic, but I didn't want a "classic" bike, something a little different.

And what's up with all the triples? You guys some serious mountain climbers or what? :D

I almost bought a bike from the same seller on Ebay (the guy in Illinois I believe). But that is the aluminum Veloce double. A very good bike, but a very different creature from the steel triple Veloce of the same vintage. I was wondering if the aluminum Veloce double would be like the Virata with Campy stuff.

Same guy sells the steel Veloce.

I am not sure if its like the Virata or not, But my Giro is aluminum and I have had absolutely no probs with it. I push hard and sprint hard and I havent had one problem other than my pedals, I keep wearing them out LOL
The seller also has a triple but I didnt ask if it was steel or aluminum, I emailed him about a payment plan, he said he would get back in touch with me after he talked to his boss about it, I gather they have an LBS and use ebay to move the products. He also says he has different models, so once I find out about a payment plan I may go even higher like an ev2, 3 or 4 depending on what he has and how much he wants...

Yeah, fresh off of my own search for a Bianchi Veloce, I looked at an 04 Eros and took it out for a ride. I believe it was a little heavier than the Veloce and more set up for touring-- less aggressive sitting position. It also has the Campy derailleurs that are one step below the Veloce's and has Campy Ergo shifters... so for an entry level Bianchi, it's really cool-- a great value for Bianchi steel. But since I bought an earlier model year Veloce (new old stock) I got it for cheaper than a 2004 Eros. :)

BTW, on Ebay, you can get the 03 Veloce for the same price as a 2004 Eros. Unfortunately, they usually don't have it in celeste.

I have a 1984 (so I'm told) Bianchi Squadra. Unfortunately, I don't have any pix right now. It's a darker blue, not the celeste. But I bought it with full campy from a yard sale for $20.

A pretty good bike, and Veloce components are excellent for the money. I'd see if you have a local dealer that would be willing to order one for you-Bianchi still has these left in many sizes (son't know for sure on the 57 but can check on Monday). In any event, they should be able to get you the bike at about that same price, plus you'd have some recourse if a warranty situation ever arose.

03 Veloce double was only available with the aluminum frame.

Not so much, seeing as the Virata has a steel front triangle and carbon rear end. Very different ride. The Virata is a great ride, though the color's not for everyone.

Had been comptemplating riding again after a 10 to 12 year layoff due to Job demands, time constraints etc. Saw this on the sidewalk in front of a Pawn Shop last week. After some negotiating I was out the door for 265.00. It is a Campy equipped Bianchi Trofeo. Hardly ever buy anything on the spur of the moment but I suspect I did good...I like the way it rides and handles. Looking forward to riding again.

PS. Just found and joined this forum. Wish I would have had access to this type of info 20 years ago.

Sorry, I didn't notice your question until today. I am very, very pleased with my recent purchace of the Virata. Without question, the most distinctive characteristic is the ride. Very smooth ride with plenty of responsiveness. It inspires much confidence, and it feels easy to go fast on. Comparing the ride to that of the Specialized Allez Comp (all aluminum)... The Comp felt more responsive to each pedal stroke when getting up to speed, but riding at speed the Virata felt like you were floating just above the road. Very smooth for the Virata vs. a bit rough for the Comp. The Virata felt much more comfortable, and was easier to keep at a decent speed because of this. I can concentrate on my pedal stroke and cadence instead of keeping an eye out for each bump in the road.

As for the chain, I would think that is a isolated problem. It's a Shimano HG-53, a fairly popular choice.

Whatever happened to the "Steel is real" arguement? I noticed back when, Bianchi riders being some of the most vocal with that idea. And now, guess what? Bianchi, too, has jumped on the Scandium bandwagon. It seems steel is going the way of the Doe-doe bird!
