Professional Cycling For the Fans - Maybe not use a time-trial bike for the TTT?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

With the course having lots of corners, tight stretches would a time trial bike be a disadvantage?

Maybe opt for some sort of "hybrid" time trial bike with better handling?

I am blaming these TT bikes for all the crashes-- they would have been much better off with more maneuverable bikes!

Rabobank. You might think otherwise, but they do (did?) have 2 potential GC contenders.

Liquigas had a few riders on Hybrids.
And guess who did the surprise ride of the day?

No surprise to me. If you saw any of the Giro you knew Liquigas is strong.

who besides menchov...allegedly?

didn't menchov try to lose the giro by crashing on the last TT also?

his team should have left him in the gutter ..........

at the 2009 ATOC prologue and ITT at solvang a majority of the liquigas team were on road bikes with clip-ons. that's just how they roll ... i'll bet their domestiques don't even have TT bikes :thumb:.

Evans, Sastre, A Schleck, ???

Today, best placed GC contender not on Astana is Christian Van de Velde (sorry, I'm not going to count Millar). As of now, I like Kreuziger's chances for the podium over Menchov, Evans and Sastre.
