Wolfpack was boring me with stories of her Granny,.... ;)
Then she told me about a snake that lived in the basemant, apparently with the permission of Granny Wolfpack.
wolfpack said something like, "it was only a black snake or maybe a King snake." (craziness obviously runs in the family)
Said Elvis lived in the crawlspace near the canned vegetables. Granny's only request was to keep the door to the basemant closed?
Basement was where the washer and dryer were....
Elvis came and went through a vent to the outside,... (nuts)
So, how crazy was your Granny?

Last year I heard a story about my brother coming home from work and seeing my grandmother (82 years old at the time) on top of a ladder that goes to the roof. She was trying to get on the roof.
When asked why, she said, "to see if I still could".
She also went on some roller coasters last year at Busch Gardens.

 but, Airwick, you forgot to tell them that my Dad did try to get Elvis out of the basement...unsuccessfully.
'sides, he wasn't hurting anything - kept the rats & mice away. :)

My g-ma found a frog that had found its way in to her bathroom once, years ago. She left him there and said he was her pet. I think he may even have been left in the shower sometimes when she took a shower.

point is one doesn't "try" to get a snake out of the house,... you either succeed, or you move.
I know your Dad "tried" but me thinks Granny not caring either way is the insanity.
I wont mention her telling you to go get a hickory stick so she could discipline little Wolfie twenty-five years after hickory trees were non-existant.

I had a city Granny that lived four blocks away and a country Granny,....
The country Granny (Mom's) was also a snake Granny. I was always afraid to visit her. Tall grass never mowed, more snakes in the yard than puppies. Snakes in old buildings, laughing about a snake biting an Uncle on the toe while he slept? (nuts)
Thank God for city Grannys.....

This explains a lot, KT. :)
No! One was the sweetest person ever, and the other - my father's mother - came from the Old Land (Germany) just before the war - and she and her husband worked and were basically subsistence farmers - growing/killing everything they ate - this is where my father would enter the story of the miles he would walk to school and maybe made $.05/week picking carrots - only after he mucked the hog, milked the sheep, etc etc. And at 6 foot - and even into her old age - she struck terror in my father's heart. Nice woman - but very stern.

this isn't really classified as "crazy"....we had this big oak tree down near the barn that had big ole roots out of the ground. it was the "chicken tree"...that's where Granny would take the chicken, get her axe and chop heads off...i remember one time i was with her and she did that, let the headless chicken go and it got up and started chasing me.

My grandma is a strong German women and 90 years old. She won't let me around her couches at all. Very smart chick if you ask me.

My grandfather, during the Depression, traveled for two days on dirt roads in his Model T to kill his mistress.
There is a story there that Flannery O'Conner could have only hoped to have dreamed.

Southern, obviously, no? :)
Two nights before my wedding (the night of my bachelor party) with my fiancee and I sleeping in my parent's basement, my 92y/o grannny tried to crawl out of the second floor window "because she was hot, and wanted a closer look at the tree" Luckily, the window was alarmed waking everyone up (except me who was seriously drunk, I woke up after 5min of the alarm!)

My grandma was crazy. We are all certain that she had Social Anxiety Disorder.
Unfortunately they didn't identify that disorder until after she died.
Also- she truly believed that laxatives were able to function as painkillers.
