I did a local route this Sunday that included Weston road (Major Mac up to Hwy 9), then I went over to Dufferin and came south to Kirby, then over to Kleinburg. Does anyone know how I could map out (I don't have any portable GPS) online someplace that would give me the relative elevation and grades along some of the hills, especially up Weston?

You could look at the topographic map (Mountain Equipment Coop for hard copies or use this:http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/en/Business/LIO/2ColumnSubPage/STEL02_167954.html and assess elevation based on where the contours cross the route, and calculate grades by combining this with scaled distances.

Or, you can log on to Google Earth and obtain elevations and distances calculate grades that way.

If you compare the two let us know-not sure how accurate Google Earth is!

This google map application has an option for plotting the elevation profile http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ 30 years ago I lived at Finch/Islington and used to ride up Weston rd to Holland Marsh then return via Hwy 27.
