Hi all,
My Tricross 2008 ended up with a DC19 front wheel and ACE19 rear wheel, whereas the 2009 has both ACE19. Anyone know the difference? I mostly ask in order to know whether it's safe to abuse the DC19 as much as I do the new bike, off road etc.

Alex's website, in its infinite wisdom, makes it impossible to link to the individual products. The picture of the ACE19 doesn't match my wheels though - they're red and black like the ACE18 on the site.

the ACE-19 on my '07 fuji is red and black like that, so maybe you got an older rim? The red/black is just a sticker though, doesn't necessarily mean its a different design.

From their website, the ACE-19 has stainless steel eyelets ("improves seating of the nipple head for a better built wheel") and CNC'd sidewalls ("precision CNC machined sidewalls smooth out the sidewall and improve the braking efficiency"). If the bit about the CNC sidewall braking performance is more than marketing speak, that could make a difference since your front wheel will do most of the braking anyway.

My former moto fantom cross came stock DC19 and they seemed tough enough they required a touch of truing here and there but I was never nice to them. MTB trails and rolling off curbs, i think mine were 32 spoke with formula hubs.

Thanks for that! The sidewall doesn't matter, that wheel is disk brake anyway.
