We bought our tandem used, and it came with a saddle that was way too narrow for my sit bones. (I'm pretty big at 6'4", so my proportions may be a bit of a challenge)
The bike has drop bars. I have been using an old mountain saddle I had laying around, and it's not cutting it.
As we have been using it more, I think a saddle with springs may be good for me. In order to keep momentum (and stay in sync with my stoker), I don't coast and post over bumps as much. My stoker says she does pretty well with her suspension seatpost.
I've used wider cruiser-style saddles in the past, but they seem to cause more chafing than something with a more narrow nose. Also, I have heard these are better with handlebars higher than the saddle. My handlebars are about 1.5 inches lower than my saddle.
Does anybody know of a saddle with springs that doesn't have too wide of a nose? I've seen some Brooks saddles that look like what I want, but they are a bit costly, and I don't think I'm ready to plunge into leather.
