After I ride, I lift weights rite after the ride. Am I fine just taking recoverite or would it be in my interest to take a whey protein supp. with it also? I am looking to build muscle.

Recoverite is for recharging your glycogen reserves. The protein increases the insulin response, which increases glycogen storage.

You only need that if you 1) depleted your glygocen on the ride, and 2) are going to ride again tomorrow.

There's 10g of protein in a serving of Recoverite. That's not enough acording to many popular theories if you are looking to bulk up.

Bulking up is not going to make you a faster cyclist, unless you are a track sprinter.

I ride everyday, lift every other day. Would it be wise to take recoverite after everyride and whey with the recoverite everytime I lift?

what is the difference in recoverite and any other recovery protien? I did recoverite for awhile and switched over to elite which has 5 grams of glutamine instead of 3 that recoverite has. I know that recoverite was like $55 and you get basically 3 lbs and the elite is only $40 and you get 5 lbs and the glutamine is alot more, plus it only calls to use one scoop as opposed to 2 scoops of the recoverite which means your using half as much per serving.

What is this elite you are talking about, I searched but it doesn't mention recovery protein.

recoverite isn't just protein- it's carbohydrates with protein.

I like it and it works, but it is expensive. I use it for races or if I need the conveinence of a powder. The rest of the time I put whey protein powder in OJ. That works and is cheaper, but it needs to be kept cold or it goes bad fast.

Like I said above, you only need a recovery drink if you used up a good part of your glycogen. For most people that means a ride that's at least two hours long.

What is this elite you are talking about, I searched but it doesn't mention recovery protein.

It is sold at the vitamin shoppe with the other protien powders, it is called Elite and the company that makes it is something like dyna- something I can't think of it offhand and don't have the container here. it is a whey protien, is about 120 calories, had 5g of glutamine. I feel it works well for me as recovery. the manager there is a good friend of mine and said that it was alot cheaper than the hammer stuff and actually better in the way of glutamine. I thought the hammer stuff was really way too pricey when other companies make basically the exact same stuff for half the cost.
