Introductions - Hi I'm Gia

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I just started riding with a local girls club. I just picked up a used road bike, but interested in doing a century ride. The bike I just got is a Sequoia Specialized that I just started using at this time.
Now I am looking at the Shiminao Ultegra as my possible first race bike. I would to hear your comments, opinions and feedback on this particular bike.
Thanks
Gia
Shimano Ultegra is a bicycle component group not a bike
Hi,
Shimano Ultegra is the parts that go on the bike, derailleurs and such, not the bike itself. Start training on the bike you have. there are training tips here on the forum and a neat raod bike section. When you get your new bike shop around. Find one that fits you correctly and does what you want it to. Fit is all important since you will be spending a lot of time on it. My self I ride for health, and I commute. I ride a recumbent since I can't tolerate more than a few minutes on my road bike, a Trek aluminum. The recumbent is just as fast as the road bike and a lot more fun to ride. There are people that have done centuries, and even extended touring on recumbents. And in my opinon they are the most comfortable bike to ride, period. Enjoy the forums. There is a lot of information and expertise here.

Did you join the Velogirls? Probably the best girl oriented club on the peninsula.
