OMG

I'm rather hairy so the process took a long time and all I could think about during it was "The itch is going to kill me. Why am I doing this?". Then when I'd finished, all I could think about was "They look just like my wife's" (except bigger ... thankfully)! Putting on trousers (pants ... after 11 years I still can't get over the wee things) is just plain bizarre! I don't know why I did it to be honest. Rush of blood to the head maybe. I am getting a massage on Saturday so I think that may have played into it. Oh well, one thing is for sure ... it will re-grow!

You didn't cut yourself the first time  I must have cut my legs at-least a dozen times when I started to shave mine.

why did you do it - for the pose and to fit in, as I do when I shave.

Nothing wrong with those reasons, shaved legs look better.

you're right they do look better. i can't think of anything worse than thin white hairy legs coming out of a pair of lycra shorts (that's me). i haven't shaved yet either, but i'm getting pretty close to trying it myself.

what do you guys use to shave? same deal as the face?

I wear long pants when I ride. Dark blue bdu style with cargo pockets. That way I have a place to keep my 357 magnum, a canister of capstun (police pepper spray) and spare ammo. :D ;) But I have been thinking of switching to shorts, with pockets.

Use Nair or some other chemical hair remover fo the first time. Then go to the razor.

It's understandable that you'd shave, though it is a funny sensation with the pants and all isn't it? lol Your best bet really is to use conditioner instead of soap or shaving cream. I learned that trick from an old girlfriend who was a swimmer like I was so when I started swimming real competitively, I used conditioner instead which made it a helluva lot easier. Now that I started biking the same habit has formed lol.

I remember when I first started shaving as a teen. I'm not particularly hairy, but boy, all the times I cut myself! I still have scars. I can only imagine what it's like for someone hairy.

However, one advantage I realized the other day- bugs! Some of the areas where we ride get very buggy, and I see guys pulling those bugs out of their arm hair. I can imagine what it would be like with leg hair as well. There is definitely one good reason for shaving.

I just shaved my legs too, last time I will do that. I don't care what others say, I will ride with hairy legs!

I was suprised, but no cuts at all. I fully excepted to slice myself up behined my knee but managed to avoid that. Of course, I've been shaving my face for almost 20 years and can even do a pretty good job in the dark (don't ask ... uni, rugby club, etc.). I did, however, run out today and buy some hair removal cream. I'm already getting stubble after one day, and the blurb on the box says this will keep it smooth longer than shaving.

I used to tease my sister mercilessly about using that stuff when I was a kid - it stank the whole house out. And now, here I am ... :D

Uh...if it's so easy to cut yourself with a razor, why don't you use a hair clipper and then an electric shaver? Sorry if it's a dumb question?

I think people were saying it was easy the first time - and definitley easier the harier you are! Electric razors don't get nearly close enough in shaving terms.

Do you ride in the Bronx or something?

I'm often the only hairy legged brute in the group when I ride and that's ok.

When or if I return to racing I'll shave them again. Sort of as a rite of passage.

i shaved my legs for about two weeks. it was a nice feeling, but too much upkeep for me. i'm growing a beard now because i hate shaving my face. i'll trim it once it gets too long, but screw shaving. i trim my legs and other areas down when it gets to be to looking too much like a sweater....other than that, ZERO MAINTENANCE!
