Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - My first bike: '84 Peugeot PGN10 (I think)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Here she is, in Burgundy with the Peugeot tri-color. Reynolds 501, Shimano 105 indexed, needing some new tires. 60cm frame, and riding nicely but I do want to give a good cleaning/tune-up:

I'd add some photos directly to this post, but I can't seem to make it work. I am having a duh moment with that...

My father-in-law has a very similar peugeot that has been off the road for about 15 years. My bike is in the shop having the groupset changed. Is it possible to use the 9spd parts that are taken off my bike and use them on the Peugeot frame? Including the STI shifters.

Yep, with some work. You will need to get the rear stays spread to 130mm. Your LBS, or a frame builder, can probably do this for cheap. There is a guide on Sheldon's site for doing it youself also.
Other than that, you will need a new back wheel that will take the cassette, some down tube cable stops, and you should be good to go. Classic steel frames with STI/Ergo rock.

So the 8,9,10 speed hub on my current wheel wont' work? Or is it just a different shaped cassette like campy vs shimano/sram?

Yep, your current wheel will work. You just mentioned getting a new group, not that you were also getting new wheels. If you already have a 8/9/10 Shimano rear wheel you are good to go once you get the frame spaced and a set of cable stops. Any front wheel is going to be spaced the same, 100mm.
One thing that might be an issue is if the bike currently has 27" wheels and you are obviously going to use 700cc wheels for the change. You can do this but the brakes might not reach. You can overcome this with some long reach Tecktro brakes. They aren't very expensive.

Cool this sounds like a fun project to work on. The bikes frame and fork are in pretty much prestine condition.

Yep, and you will have taken the first step to vintage madness, lol. Feel free to PM if you have any questions, or drop into the C&V forum. Lot's of us have done just what you are talking about.
