Yes, but I'm about as far from you as I can get and still live in MI. :D

Lots of great group rides up here if you wanna join us though.

I know there's a pretty competitive clyde class in downstate mountain bike races. If you get into that sort of thing, should be able to find some riding buddies there.

Hello, from just south of Detroit. I'm a beginner but always happy to have company out there. One guy I ride with weighs 165 lbs, virtually no chance of keeping up with him when he wants to push it but he seems to get a good workout going at my pace as well.

Hey Poolagoo, what part of the DH (North or South)? I'm in South DH. I love riding Hines.

Stockbridge here. The owner of the bike shop in Pinckney does a bike ride every Monday, starting around 7-ish. It's usually short, maybe 10 miles, and you need a bike that can handle the Lakelands Trail. I use a mountain bike, because it is not entirely paved. There's no ride this week, but he didn't say anything about the week after, so I'm assuming it's on. The riders meet by the old Depot on D-19.

South, I love the Hines as well. I'm 3 miles from the rouge river trail that leads to Hines. Furthest I've made it so far was up to Inkster rd. from Dearborn and a buddy wanted to turn back. Would love to start early and truck it to Northville for lunch someday though.

Hey, I'm thinking about trying to pull together a Fall Colors weekend ride on the Kal Haven trail. Start in Kalamazoo and go to South Haven, camp for the night and return the next day. Any interest? If so, I'll start working up details. It's only 34 miles each way. I'll likely be doing it on a fixed gear, too, for fun. :p

I'd come out for that Tom.

I'm in as long as I'm not already booked up, having a wife and children tends to fill your schedule. I'd enjoy getting to meet other forum members in real life.

OK, let me start in on planning this. I know of at least one other Clyde that's interested as well as a couple nonforum members. It'll be a no drop ride, too. I'll try to set up SAG support for the gear, too. (Perhaps a family member of one of the riders?).

There are several options on camping, too. Plan on a chilly night and AM start, though......

Hello from south of Brighton. I have been sticking to the MUPs in the area but I might be tempted back out on the road. I not a fast rider and my ride is a bit of a truck (Trek 520) but it might be fun. I used to ride all the time on the road when I was in high school and college (I'm 44) but since slowly getting back into riding I have not done too much on the road. I did a couple rides West of 52 that weren't bad.

Also, I want to take this opportunity to express my thanks for all that post here. This forum has been a big motivator for me. I was at 245 and now I am around 12 pounds from sub-clyde status. My goal is 185. Whenever I get whiny about not watching my diet I think of the amazing accomplishments that are routinely discussed here and it really helps me to keep trying.

Tom- please keep me in mind for the Kal-haven as well. I rode it back when I was going to school in Kalamazoo and it was a fun ride. Hopefully my schedule will cooperate. Any idea what time frame you're shooting for?

Mike

The weekend the leaves are peak color, Octoberish, I guess?

That's about the right time for colors. Maybe even late September. If you plan on later October, don't be surprised at frost/snow.

I have an arctic bag, and have had frost and even light snow on tour in June on the UP. :p

We must live right around the corner from one another! I've made it to Newburgh and back (starting from the house).

I'm on Edgewood, between Eton and Powers, anytime you want company let me know I'll ride with you, just keep in mind I'm not that fast and I'm on a mountain bike.

Annapolis b/w Polk and Merrick. I usually ride Sunday mornings on my work-in-progress road bike.

For those of you familiar with the Kal-Haven, I invite you to come up to Midland and ride the Pere-Marquette trail. It is a paved rail-trail conversion which runs out to Clare . . . about 30 miles from downtown Midland. As far out as I have ridden, it's pretty flat. Not that the Kal-Haven is all that hilly. Bring your sunscreen though . . . it's not as covered as the Kal-Haven is.

I'll check back on the plans for the fall ride of the Kal-Haven. Looks to be a great time!
