do suntour superbe track hubs have sealed or unsealed bearings?
j-
All the ones I ever seen were unsealed hubs...if your worried about that don't!!!! I have Suntour Superbe hubs on my bike and they have over 140,000 miles on them and have never been rebuilt; I just inject new grease about every 500 miles (even though the book called for 3,000), or unless they get wet. By the way the grease repells rain anyway just like a sealed hub would, it's just that a sealed hub could be submersed and still ride whereas with the unsealed you better regrease quick.
BUT unsealed hubs compared to sealed hubs of the same quality will last longer plus are less hassle to rebuild if needed, and have less rolling friction...not that your going to notice the friction factor while riding though, you would only be able to tell if you rolled the hubs in your hand.
Superbe hubs were the best hubs ever made next to Phil Woods.

Froze...I'll disagree on the Phil Wood statement otherwise your assessment is correct.

Hmmm...I don't know if they are THE best, but I'll admit Superbe Pro hubs are freakin' sweet! Just won a set of sealed hubs on Ebay, and they are the smoothiest, silkiest, sexiest hubs I have ever owned  . Track hub or road hub- you can't go wrong.

What's nuts, and to tell you the truth I never would have expected this to happen; but those Superbe hubs you bought will feel like that after 140,000 miles!!
By the way, Phil Woods hubs I believe are the best on the market because I ran into a person who had a touring bike and his Phil Woods hubs had 150,000 miles and never had them overhauled either. Was he lying? I don't know but I don't think so because of my experience with the Superbe's. He was touring from Alaska going down to Mexico when I ran into him at my LBS buying tires and overheard him talking to a mechanic about the hubs.
